The House of Hope women's center was built in 2024 in Bamako (Mali) in the Sansfil slum in cooperation with our local partner organization, Sini Sanuman, and with the support of Richter Gedeon Nyrt.

The center serves as a refuge for girls fleeing violence and child marriage, while also providing them with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge they need to move forward. Education begins with teaching reading and writing, as these basic skills are rarely provided in slums.

Among the training courses, girls and women arriving here can gain practical experience in professions such as soap making and sewing. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn! In addition, women who previously performed female genital mutilation as a profession are also offered retraining opportunities at the women's center. Through this activity, we want to create a new opportunity for them to earn a long-term income.

We believe that empowering women is the key to Africa's upliftment. In communities where the value of an African woman is no longer solely determined by the number of children she bears, change begins to take root. Our on-site experiences confirm that educated mothers tend to have fewer children, and their children receive more parental attention, leading to healthier, better-educated lives. We believe this is also a path out of extreme poverty.

The center has been built, but we need your support to keep it running! It is very important that we are able to provide daily meals to women seeking help, as they have no other means of obtaining them. The house must be maintained, and the shelter must be kept in good condition. The sewing course has started, but we still need sewing machines. We also need pots and other equipment for soap making.

You can help us most by virtually "adopting" the House of Hope, i.e., by providing predictable support for our work with a regular monthly donation of 6,000 HUF. Of course, we also welcome one-time donations!

We report to our supporters two or three times a year on events and developments at the House of Hope and on the progress made by the girls. We send you a newsletter and an invitation to the annual event for our regular supporters. From time to time, we offer discounts on products from our Hint of Africa brand.
