Joshua lives with his mother, grandmother, siblings, and a foster relative—seven people in all. The mother is the family’s sole breadwinner; his father does not work and does not live with them. His two school-age siblings are both in school, and the third is still very young. Joshua’s favorite subject is English; when he grows up, he wants to be a pilot. He is an excellent student, but the family struggles financially, which is why he was recommended for the program.
